ABOUT
Kazuto Matsuzaki was born in the Japanese countryside, where his days were spent in close proximity to nature and surrounded by the craftsmanship of his family. Calligraphy, movement, and floral art shaped his upbringing, instilling in him a susceptibility to tradition and an awareness of beauty in imperfection. These early impressions became the foundation of his creativity that is now taking place in Paris, where his designs reflects the ambivalence conglomeration of recollection and disruption, stillness and agitation, intimacy and estrangement.
This film rejects the structure of a linear narrative and instead appears from a process of fragmentary observation. It was filmed partly in the Bois de Vincennes in Paris and in the fields of Cergy on the city’s outskirts, landscapes chosen to echo Kazuto’s reflections on belonging.
